Eagle Project: Mapping Grafton Center Cemetery
Grafton, NH lost the records for this lovely town cemetery in a fire. This large cemetery holds 1,000 occupants but their names and other statistics were unknown except by walking through the acre plus space. Reese, with the support of his Eagle project advisor, Bill Ross, came up with a plan to map the cemetery and capture the information from every grave marker, whether monument, headstone, marker, or other. The project took three weekends and had the help of many scouts and their parents. The end result was a database of the “occupants” of Grafton Center Cemetery which was presented to the Grafton Cemetery Trustees. Additionally a website was made with that information and as a starting place to accumulate information about all the Grafton NH Cemeteries.
